NFMS -8- BALL LEAGUE

(North Fort Myers Seniors)

Operating Procedures     (Revised Nov. 2026)

1. FORMAT OF PLAY: We use the same format as that of the Billiard Congress of America (BCA) leagues. This format seeks to "level the playing field" by using team handicaps. This means that teams with less playing experience have a significantly better chance to win against stronger rated teams. Total of 25 games per match with a 5-player team, each player plays 5 games (One singles game against each player of the opposing team.)

2. TEAM COMPOSITION: A team may have more than five players listed on their roster and any five may play at any given match, however, each of the players must play five games (rounds), no substitution of players within rounds is permitted.

Requirement as player, as follows:

2a) Player must be 55 years young, or older.

2b) As residents of their community, they must play on its team(s) if in the League as 1st choice. If no home team(s), players may join the roster for a team in the league who need a player, or may be on a substitute list to play for any team as needed. If there is/are home team(s), but no room on the roster, player may play for another team as coordinated by team captains.

2c) If needed, Captain may use available subs/floaters to play, or play with absent player(s) using the special score sheets.

A team may play with two absent players.

2d) There are many variables here. Each situation will be reviewed by the League Committee and Director before approval.

3. LEAGUE RULES: League Rules are provided to each Captain.

4. GAME RULES: We will strictly follow WPA Playing Regulations and Rules of Play Eff. 9/15/2025. Attention should be given to “8-Ball Discipline in Section 4, Paragraphs 4.1-4.11, pgs.18-21 of WPA Rules of Play.

To avoid misunderstandings, each captain should ensure that all players are made aware of these rules. In the event of a dispute during play, team captains will jointly agree on a ruling. Captains may also consult League Director. If no agreement can be reached, the game will be replayed.

A complete set of WPA Playing Regulations and Rules of Play are provided are available on our website: cowanh.wixsite.com/nfm-8-ball

5. SCOREKEEPING: An initial set of score sheets and roster will be distributed to each captain via text, email attachment or at Captains’ meeting at the beginning of the seasons.

6. DUES: To fund plaques, annual Award Ceremony & Pizza Party, and other league expenses, each team captain will be responsible for collecting dues of $60.00 per team for each of seasons, Fall and Spring.  Dues are to be given to our League Treasurer asap after each season starts.

7. PRIZES: Plaques will be awarded to the winners and runners-up for both the fall and spring seasons. A plaque will also be awarded to the league MVP for each season.

8. STARTING TIMES: Matches will begin at 6:45 PM. If a team is unable to play a scheduled match, the captain must call the opposing team captain by 4:00 PM to arrange a makeup date. If no courtesy call or no-show, match results in a forfeit to the no-show team.

9. SCORE SHEET IF TEAM(S) ARE SHORT PLAYER(S).  In general, if a team has a missing player, the remaining players will each play an extra game. The lowest rated player will also play an additional extra game that serves to disadvantage the team with the missing player. There are several versions of the score sheets where you have a missing player(s) along with instructions on our website:
